It’s important to remember the term “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” because we recycle for many reasons, such as reducing the waste that ends up in landfills and reusing resources and materials such as oil and plastic. Using recycled materials instead of raw materials can also lower energy costs for manufacturers. Some of these benefits and costs (such as transportation) are not included in the below calculations, but it is still easy to see that recycling and reusing materials is better for the environment.
